Capture and Convey Motion – Our next assignment

July 28, 2009

Our next photo assignment should be a fun one.

Share up to 10 photos that:  freeze motion and convey motion
You need to do both, but not in the same photo.  And stick with the same rules as last time, no tweaking in Photoshop.  That keeps the playing field level and helps everyone shoot more carefully.

At least on this assignment we can shoot a billion shots to get it right. Thirty-six would just not be enough when you are still learning.

The Chair – Results (finally)

July 27, 2009

I really enjoyed this assigment and while at first I over thought my concept thinking of many different locations and where I could get a “cooler” chair.  When it came down to shooting I decided to just move my dining room table out of the way and use one of my husband’s grandmother’s chairs.  There was beautiful natural light coming through our bay window casting interesting shadows on my subject.   It was hard to pick my Top 3. I kept changing my selections.

The hardest part of the whole project was getting the photos uploaded in the correct orientation.  My camera auto rotated the thumbnails so on my computer it would show correctly, but when uploaded everything was landscape.  Finally figured it out, with a lot of help from my husband (Thanks David).

And now the rest of the story…..

Just testing

Just testing out this new blog site to be sure I know what I’m doing so when I’m ready to show off my 36 chair photos, it will work.  This photo is just for inspiration.  I love the story that it tells.

The Chair

Take 36 different photos of a chair — only 36 exposures.  Share all 36 photos, and choose your favorite 3 and share those separately (or at the top of your entry or something). No retouching, no messing, no funny business — WYSIWYG.  (What you see is what you get.)

PHOTOS COMING THIS SOON.  Project due this weekend.
